Csólyospálos is situated in the south eastern part of historic Kiskunság. The settlement is first mentioned in a charter from 1473 as a village with a church. During the Ottoman rule the village was depopulated, and the repopulation of Csólyos and Pálos only took place in the 19th century. For administrative purposes Csólyospuszta belonged to Kiskunfélegyháza, while Pálospuszta belonged to Kiskunmajsa. Because of World War I, the merger of the two villages couldn’t take place. The inhabitants of the two villages built a church in Csólyos as a sign of the unity in 1939. The parochial was built in Pálos. The two villages became one on May 1st, 1945. The plough in the dexter field of the coat of arms refers to the agricultural activity in the village, as well as the colour or, which represents the colour of the corn. The church in the sinister field azure represents the faith of the villagers, which was Roman Catholicism. The shaking hands in the field gules represent the cooperation of the two villages, it was the symbol of the 1923 seal of the farmer’s cooperation. The colour gules represents the victims of the two world wars. The Kun helmet argent on the top of the shield refers to the Kun origin of the village. The helmet was revealed in 1905. The name of the village, Csólyos has also a Kun origin. The number of the inhabitants of the village is 1800, most of the inhabitants have agricultural activities.
